INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES

The horticulture industry in India is faced with several challenges and we continuously strive to identify global solutions to make Indian horticulture more productive and competitive. Our emphasis is on introducing innovative technologies to the farmer’s doorstep and helping them adapt these technologies to suit local conditions. A recent development being the sourcing of Plastic Covers and Anti-Hail Nets from Spain for fruit cultivation in India.

PLASTIC COVERS

Effects of global warming have become more pronounced in the past few years which is evident through the erratic weather conditions experienced each year. Untimely rains and hailstorms have resulted in humungous damage to horticultural crops like grapes, pomegranates, mango, banana, citrus and vegetables every year.

Innovative technologies like use of plastic covers that facilitate protective cultivation against adverse weather conditions have proved immensely successful in countries like Spain & Italy and are now spreading the world over.

Plastic covers used in these type of applications allow for better overall light transmission and light diffusion resulting in increased photosynthesis that leads to early development and higher production.

ANTI-HAIL NETS

Anti-hail nets are very effectively used in horticulture to protect the crops from hail storms. These nets are particularly used in areas that are prone to hail storms. Once installed, the nets can remain in the fields for up to five years. Being made up of mono-filament poly-ethylene, the nets have very good strength and durability.

Anti-hail nets are available in different mesh sizes to allow varying degrees of sunlight to pass through, thus facilitating better crop growth.
